Currently workshops are scheduled for five nights.

- Thursday, August 3, from 19:00 to 22:30 = 3 hours 30 minutes
- Saturday, August 5, from 19:00 to 22:30 = 3 hours 30 minutes
- Sunday, August 6, from 19:00 to 22:30 = 3 hours 30 minutes
- Monday, August 7, from 19:00 to 20:00 = 1 hour
Total = 15 hours available for workshops
Workshops will be scheduled in the evenings after the competitive events. While the hockey and basketball events also will be held in the evenings, we will try to keep any conflicts to a minimum. The secondary gym is dedicated to workshops, but workshops could be held elsewhere depending on the topic.
Three Types of Workshops
- T = Traditional - One or more people teach a skill or give a presentation on some aspect of unicycling.
- GD = Group Discussions - People discuss some aspect of unicycling in a roundtable setting. For example, club leaders from different cultures can get together and talk about their experiences with what works and what doesn't work in their club.
- C = Competitions - Specialized competitions, such as long jump and high jump, with a brief explanation of the event. Winners of the competitions would be considered world champions, and new world records can be set.
- O = Other - Workshops that don't fit into any of the categories above.

Once at Tiananmen Square, riders can either take the subway back or brave the road and ride back to Shijingshan.

About the leader: Andy organized and rode in the long distance unicycling trip called Unicycle Across Minnesota in 1999. During that eight-day event, Andy and 34 other riders unicycled over 750 km (479 miles) from the southern edge of Minnesota to the state's northern border with Canada.
Sumo "Workshop"
Leader's Name: John Foss, Steve Dressler
E-mail Address: jfoss@unicycling.com, trdwnds@asiaonline.net
Workshop Type: Competition
Time Requirements: 2 hours
Space Needed: An area of gym floor for game, plus space for spectators. This can be done outside if necessary.
Workshop Description: We will play Unicycle Sumo, using the rules developed by John Foss and the Long Island Unicyclists. The
basic idea is similar to Gladiators or Demolition Derby. Two riders at a time, limited riding space, last one riding wins (with restrictions).
Winner can also push opponent outside riding area. Format will be fun and informal, similar to UNICON IX. Winner of most rounds will
be champion. Defending champions are Manfred Hartung and Lars Lottrup. We will also do competitions for smaller, lighter riders, using
a format to be determined at the last minute.
Who should attend: Open to anyone. Play for fun, or take on the experts. Sumo is a great way to improve your balance and general
riding skills.
What to bring: Their best Sumo unicycle, camera and video, and a loud voice.
Space Needed: An area of gym floor for game, plus space for spectators. This can be done outside if necessary.
Previous Workshops: UNICON IX, and at various events back to the early 1980's
About the leaders: John Foss is from Carmichael, California, leader of the Gold Country Unicyclists. Steve Dressler is from Hong Kong,

America, and both John and Steve are IUF Directors.
Best time on schedule: When we're not scheduled for other workshops
Prevent these time conflicts: Some basketball and hockey players will definitely want to play Sumo. We can do two different times if
that helps.
Requirements and needs: A whistle might be nice.
Comments: Tah-tan-gah!
