I went into Brian's office in January. He looked up from his desk and said,
"Hey, you're a unicycle guy!". He then rummaged around and came up with a book
(guess which one...), and said he needed an opinion on it. Anyway, I took it
home and read it, and reccomended to Brian that he carry it.
I think Mr. Hoehr's book is pretty good. It's a translation from German, with
some resultant oddities, but on the whole I think it is comprehensive, and
provides good learning progressions. I mentioned to Brian that parts of the
book are almost TOO specific, such as the section on how to arrange the male
genitalia on your uni seat!
The book covers learning steps, and some more advanced riding. It also has
sections on specialty cycles (mainly giraffes), and a brief history section. I
think that this is now one of the better books out on the subject, but could
still be improved upon. My old workmate John Foss has long talked about writing
the definitive unicycle book - Hey Foss! Now would be a good time! How about
it? Let's all offer John some encouragement. For my money, he should be the one
to do it.
