Ah, your have discovered the dead spot. When learning to ride, stop and get
your balance with your pedals parallel to the ground. Its best to
have someone walk with you holding your hand for balance or you can use
their shoulder. Make one half revolutions at first stopping and gaining
balance on every half turn. Always pedal past the dead spot (top dead
center). Eventually make full revolutions, then more than one.
