Hmm, not really a tournament more a Circus Skills Convention with
unicycle hockey as a side line.

It's still on - just. We'll have a team (hopefully two), then there'll
be yourselves. No-one else confirmed at this stage but I'm hoping
we'll be able to put a scratch team or two together.
I'm still not happy about the pitch but I'm not sure what we can do
about it. After your mail about the grit, I figured I'd best revisit
the ground to see how bad it is. I went over there last night. It's
not very nice but the grit doesn't look like stuff we could sweep up -
the pitch surface is basically gritty soil (looks like a football
pitch without the grass). The pitch is firm and flat but it's
definitely gritty...
I'm gonna talk to the convention organisers tonight to see if there's
any way we can use one of the halls for an hour or so but I don't hold
up any great hopes - there'll (hopefully?) be loads of jugglers and
such in there.
On the "up" side, we've got some proper size goals now. Whoopee doo. :-)
Getting there - from Bristol head north up the M5 (you probably knew
that bit), follow the M6 to junction 6 and, when you get to
Birmingham, follow signs to the International Convention Centre
(that's pretty much in the middle of Birmingham on Broad St). Follow
Broad St passed the ICC and you'll reach a big roundabout (Five
Ways). Go right at the roundabout towards Ladywood. Follow the dual
carriageway passed the Children's Hospital (on your left) straight on
at a couple of roundabouts (I *think* there're two) just after the
last roundabout there's a small service round on your right (Monument
Rd) - follow that to the Sports Centre car park (it's signposted - and
there'll be signs for the convention anyways).
Regards,
Mark.
