(also known as Chasey)
A very simple children's running game, but played on a unicycle. Three
or more players. One player is "it". They chase the others - if the
person who is it manages to touch (tag) someone, they become it,
instead. Games continues until you get bored. Simple, huh?
Generally, if a player is off their unicycle, they cannot be tagged.
However, a player may not dismount just to avoid being caught. Also, if
a player falls off because they were riding faster than their competent
speed while being chased, then that counts as being tagged.
Variations:
- The person who is it has to carry an item, so others can tell who is
currently it. Wearing a cap works well. Large juggling balls also work
well. Agree whether you may hide the ball behind your back or whether it
must be clearly displayed.
- "No touch-backs" - you can't tag the person who tagged you.
- "Brandy" - person who is it has a ball, and may throw it. If they hit
someone, that person is it. I haven't tried this with a unicycle - I
suspect too much time would be spent fetching the ball.
- More than one person "it" - this works well with many players; it
adds the risk of being caught by one person while evading another.
This helps where there are less-skilled unicyclists playing. It adds an
element of randomness, and prevents the game from fragmenting because
poor players can't catch good players and good players don't bother
chasing poor ones.
- "Barleys" - have some safe area(s) in which a player cannot be
tagged. A time limit may be required to get players back onto the field.
